This course focuses on teaching how to use MaxDB from a developer point of view.

Zielgruppe

Application developers, advanced administrators, users who also need to work with the database server directly (table design, loading data, queries). This course is also intended for users of SAP DB and Adabas D who are considering upgrading to MaxDB, and to others who look to use MaxDB in their organisations.

Voraussetzungen

Basic computer literacy. Understanding of SQL fundamentals is useful

Inhalt

• Find and effectively utilize resources such as the MySQL website, the MaxDB online reference manual, mailing lists and others
• Understand the fundamentals of relational databases and the client/server concept
• List the major features of MaxDB
• Perform a MaxDB installation on Windows or Linux
• Use the standard graphical clients to connect with the MaxDB Server and execute commands
• Identify column types and their characteristics, choosing the appropriate type
• Create and modify tables (Data Definition Language)
• Import data from a file or via an ODBC connection
• Understand and use most common functions and expressions
• Write and execute basic SQL queries including joins, aggregation and views
• Perform operations on data (Data Manipulation Language)
• Understand how to program and utilize stored procedures and triggers
• Identify ways to optimize your queries and database usage for better performance
• Establish a basis for further MaxDB training
